Broken Limits \ by Carmen is a New York - based, Black owned business specializing in handcrafted, Afrocentric wire wrapped jewelry and wearable art. ​Founded by Carmen Nkounkou, the brand offers a variety of handcrafted every-day pieces, including necklaces, rings, earrings, and bracelets.

Broken Limits was born from a desire to challenge perceptions and create space for authentic representation. Growing up, many of us encountered narrow narratives about Africa; stories that overlooked the continent's beauty, innovation, diversity, and resilience. Carmen knew there was a different story to tell.

 

She believes that fashion can be a powerful form of storytelling. The pieces she creates and curates allows her customers to express pride in their heritage, honor their journeys, and break through limitations.

 

Broken Limits \ by Carmen aims to build a community of individuals who refuse to be defined by boundaries. Carmen's mission is to bring individuals together to celebrate culture and the freedom to define ourselves on their own terms.​
